Ndemaleckah Foundation’s TeMWEP initiative focuses on young women who face barriers to education and economic opportunity, including teenage mothers and young wives. Practical vocational learning is one way to create another route towards skills and livelihood opportunities.
Support from Gered Gereedschap in the Netherlands helped the Foundation receive 51 sewing machines. Thinking Minds Foundation also supported the intervention that helped resolve the delivery issues. The Foundation acknowledges these contributions and the effort required to bring the equipment to the organisation.
The arrival photographs supplied by the Foundation document the consignment at Tema Harbour. They show equipment and protective cases during that stage of the journey. They do not establish how many machines were subsequently installed or allocated to a particular learning site.
Receiving machines is an important step, but equipment alone does not create a complete training programme. Machines need preparation and maintenance. Learning spaces need suitable work tables. Practical sessions need consumables, instruction and support that reflect participants’ circumstances.
The Foundation’s community-led approach places local participation at the centre of this work. The Chief Executive Officer coordinates the initiative with community volunteers and technical support for monitoring and evaluation. This arrangement is intended to keep delivery connected to community priorities and support learning as the work develops.
The programme’s initial ambition is to reach more than 300 young women over three years and continue beyond that period. This is a target. Actual participation, completion and livelihood results need to be reported from programme records, separately from the number of machines received.
The Foundation welcomes partners who can support practical learning inputs, machine maintenance, instruction and mentoring. The proposed centre at Pusu Namogo is also part of the longer-term effort to create a more permanent base for vocational opportunity.
To discuss a contribution or implementation partnership, contact Ndemaleckah Foundation. Support can be agreed around a practical need and a clear delivery and reporting arrangement.
